These Pink Torch Lilies are some of the waxy tropical flowers that grow in my garden in Jamaica. I painted them in watercolour with touches of pastel for added texture. The strong vertical lines help to give the feeling of vibrant growth and the dramatic lighting gives a sense of the light filtering down between the giant leaves that tower over you as you stand to admire the flowers.

The painting is quite impressionistic and has strong, glowing pinks and burgundy colours, applied with large brushes and sweeping brushstrokes. Painted on d'Arches heavyweight paper, with Artist quality paints, the materials are archival and guaranteed to last.
